Piligrimia is built on open data. Each source below is used under its own licence, and the credit it asks for is shown in the app where its data appears and collected here. Where a source is marked "adapted", we have changed it: simplified lines, merged stages, translated names or filtered points to the camino corridor.

Camino routes

Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN / CNIG), Spain

The camino routes and their stages are adapted from the "Caminos de Santiago" dataset of the Instituto Geográfico Nacional, distributed by the Centro Nacional de Información Geográfica.

Places, albergues and the map

OpenStreetMap

Towns and villages, albergues and other accommodation, points along the way, the final legs into Santiago de Compostela and the basemap are derived from OpenStreetMap.

Protomaps

The basemap and the offline map packs are a Protomaps build of OpenStreetMap data, hosted on our own servers.

Terrain heights

Terrain Tiles (Mapzen, AWS Open Data)

Elevation profiles are computed from the Terrain Tiles dataset made by Mapzen and hosted in the AWS Open Data registry. In Europe it is built from EU-DEM, among other sources.

Weather

MET Norway

Weather forecasts come from the Locationforecast service of the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.

Walking directions

openrouteservice

When you stray from the camino, the walking route back is calculated by openrouteservice, run by HeiGIT in Heidelberg, Germany, on OpenStreetMap data.
